The Best Thai Restaurant in Melbourne – Ying Thai

January 19th, 2010

Hi all,

I’ve just back from my short trip to Melbourne. In my previous post, I mentioned about the best Pad Thai I ever had is in Ying Thai. Few days ago I actually back to Melbourne and eat in Ying Thai again.. and definitely .. THE BEST PAD THAI IS STILL IN YING THAI :)

Ok, I’ve taken a couple of pictures of what I eat, I’ll do a little bit explanation of what it is approximately, and the rest.. is your imagination :P Or even better.. when you go to Melbourne, visit Ying Thai and you can taste it yourself !

Chicken Pad Thai

Chicken Pad Thai

First dish is Chicken Pad Thai. When I said this is the best Pad Thai, I’m not quite sure how to explain, it has all ingredients like normal Chicken Pad Thai ..carrot, rice noodle, chicken, peanuts (i think it is like cashew), chives .. but their paste is very special for me which make it taste reallyyyy reallyyy nice :)

Spicy Fried Whole Fish

Spicy Fried Whole Fish

Second dish is Chilli fish (be careful, you might get stomach ache if you are not get used to a spicy food). When you order this food, you have to specify the level of spiciness you want it to be.. So it is basically a fried whole fish .. covered with mixed of chilli, papprika and tomato (I think). It is spicy but definitely VERY NICE !

Green Curry With Duck Meat

Green Curry With Duck Meat

The third dish is Green Curry with Duck meat. I cannot recommend nicer curry than this one .. the red curry also good, so it is basically depends on your own taste. It has duck meat which has been cut into small pieces and mix vegetables.. I’m not a fan of duck meat actually, but duck with green curry.. is very nice.. :) It is very tasty and perfect company for your white rice.

Tom Yum Soup

Tom Yum Soup

Eating in Thai restaurant without having a taste of its famous soup is incomplete :) So the forth dish is Tom Yum Soup. It has all normal ingredient for Tom Yum Soup such as mushroom, tomato, mussels, corriander, calamari, prawn.. very tasty .. you can taste the sourness and the spiciness of the ingredients — You can’t stop before you finish the whole thing ! :P

Crispy Pork Skin Salad

Crispy Pork Skin Salad

The last dish that we order.. certainly not the least tasty.. even if I may say.. this is my favorite food which in my mind for the last couple of weeks before my trip to Melbourne — Crispy Pork Skin Salad. It is consists of Prawn, Calamari, Pork Skin that has been fried so it is crispy then it is mixed with some spicy yet sweet dressings that makes you want more and more of this food.

Ok, remember .. when you go to Melbourne.. you definitely have to go to Ying Thai for Thai food.
Their address is at 110 Lygon Street, Carlton 3053 VIC. And their phone number is (03)9639 1697. They open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Just a tips.. make sure you make a reservation first ! :)

Happy eating !
